That One Time
I Almost Did
a PhD.

While assisting Prof. Bijulal M V at the Centre for Migration Policy and Inclusive Governance, MG University, I was doing what project assistants do — talking to migrant workers, attending policy meetings, liaising with government officials, digging through research.

At some point, the research got good enough that we co-wrote an opinion piece. It ended up in the Economic Times. With my name on it. And my photo. In a national newspaper.

I briefly considered a PhD. Then I remembered what a PhD involves. Moving on.

The point is: I can research. Properly. Before a word gets written.

Perfectly normal hobby. Nothing to see here. I watched a short film, liked it, and thought — you know what this needs? Subtitles I write at 11pm for no reason whatsoever.

To be fair, the task did come from a former colleague who edited the film — so there was a reason. I just can't pretend I wouldn't have done it anyway.

P.S. — This short film is not a joke. It's about how valuable consent is. I just happen to think the best things deserve subtitles.
